Why Do We Support Compassion United Methodist Church?

Fifty years ago when a faith community that would become Woodridge United Methodist Church was forming, people from Lisle United Methodist Church gave their support. That is why for the last two years we have been providing support to the new church community forming in Brookfield, called Compassion United Methodist Church, and its pastor, Reverend Karl Sokol. Supporting Compassion UMC by our presence shows our belief in this new church just as Lisle showed their belief in us fifty years ago.

How To Be Notified of Deaths and Funeral Information

If you would like to receive email notifications of death and funeral information for church members and those connected to the Woodridge UMC congregation, please sign up in the Narthex, sign up here, or send an email to the office with your name, email address, and phone number. You will NOT receive these email notifications if you do not request to be added to the list, even if you already receive the weekly newsletter. If you have any questions, please contact Becky in the church office.

Adventurers' Group Outings

The Adventurers Group is a group of "mature" adults from WUMC who have been socializing and forming close friendships since our very first Progressive Dinner in January, 1986.

We meet the third Saturday of each month during the year, summers off. Our group has been socializing and forming close friendships for many years. Each month a person or couple is in charge of planning the event. We go to a restaurant together and usually follow with fellowship at the host's home.  We have attended plays, had pot luck dinners, etc.  We are always welcoming newcomers. Save the 3rd Saturday, and look for news in the bulletin and our newsletter, or click here for more information.

Let's do lunch!

How about First Friday Lunch?  We will have lunch, socialize with friends, and make new friends.  We will gather in Fellowship Hall the First Friday of the month from 12:00 to 1:30ish. Bring a sandwich and beverage for yourself and a salad or dessert to share. All are invited! Hope to see you there!

We Need Sunday Service Volunteers!

We are looking for some help at both services -- Liturgists, Greeters and Ushers. Please contact the Church Office if you are interested!

About the Red Bird Mission

Red Bird Mission and Clinic have been providing ministries in this region of the Appalachian Mountains since 1921. Today the need remains critical in this isolated, rural distressed area. Chronic poverty, lack of jobs, poor housing, and rugged mountainous terrain provide obstacles to a fuller life for the residents of this area. Red Bird Mission and Clinic strives to meet these needs through ministry in five areas: Education, Health and Wellness, Community Outreach, Economic Opportunity, and Community Housing Improvement.

Everyone is invited to WUMC’s Annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday,  March 28th at 10:00am. We will begin in the sanctuary and join together in the narthex at the end for refreshments. Make sure to bring a basket to collect your eggs! Please come and invite neighbors and grandkids! We will have the hunt rain or shine.  Hope to see everyone there!
