Living on Purpose

This coming Sunday is called "World Communion Sunday".  It is a day where Protestant churches around the world sit together at the Lord's Table to remember who we are, whose we are and the all-encompassing love and grace available at the Table.  Not every congregation has a time where the sacrament of holy communion is celebrated, but it is on this day that all are invited to do so.  In some denominations the focus is on peace and justice issues and some denominations do not have a focus other than the unity of the human race

For us as United Methodists, it is a reminder that we stand with others around peace and justice and support those in higher educational institutions who strive to be "world changers".  The special offering included for this day goes to provide scholarships for national and international graduate students whom God has gifted to learn and to serve.

Our scripture lesson for this day remind us that we are not an isolated lot  looking for our own goals and aspirations.  We are a part of a community of believers that are called to LIVE ON PURPOSE.  We are called to be the ones who disrupt the comfort and ease of those who make injustice their lifelong work.  Yes, our lives are important starting points to say to others that God's love is real and we are the living examples.  Let's talk about how we begin to make a difference in the world.......be world changers!!!
