More Than the Eyes Can See
Last week I reminded us that we are in the midst of the season of Lent. The solemn period of 40 days before Easter (not including Sundays) where our focus is on self-reflection and penitence. The time that is marked with prayer and fasting and the act of sacrifice and where our steps of faith are taking us through the final weeks and days that Jesus spent walking the dusty streets of Jerusalem. Walking with Jesus is no joke!!!.
This month we also celebrate women's history. Women have been such a significant part of human history that there would be no history if it were not for women! Those who work behind the scenes or on the front lines, have made a difference in our world at every level of existence. We were encouraged last week to think of a woman who has impacted each of our lives and remember them in prayer and/or make some expression to them to let them know of their influence in our lives.
This week we will take it a step further as we think about women who have been "invisible". Not seen, ignored, not heard from whatever the case, their voices have been silenced. They are the "hidden figures" that we miss sometimes by accident and sometimes intentionally. However, their contribution to human history and to the faith is usually "MORE THAN THE EYES CAN SEE". Their presence makes a difference in more ways than we imagine and we will take a look at how that happens.
