Radical Disciple-Job 1

10.04.24 | by Rev Dave Yim

This week's sermon focuses on the story of Job and the difficult truth that bad things can happen to good people. Job was not only the greatest man of the East in terms of wealth but also spiritually blameless, upright, and a true servant of God. Despite his righteousness, he suffered immense loss due to natural disasters, raids, and ultimately, physical affliction.

Even after losing everything, Job worshipped God, proclaiming, “The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.” When his health was attacked and his body was covered in painful sores, even his wife urged him to curse God and die. Yet, Job’s integrity remained intact as he responded, “Shall we receive the good from God and not also the bad?”

This sermon will explore Job’s unwavering faith in the face of suffering and how, despite Satan’s attempts, Job’s relationship with God stayed strong. Please join us as we reflect on the lessons from Job, a man blameless and upright before God."
