Syrophoenician Woman

09.06.24 | by Rev Dave Yim

Jesus traveled to the region of Tyre to find some rest. He had been spending most of his time in Galilee, moving around the Sea of Galilee. He intentionally sought out this break for some solitude, because wherever he went people followed him. So he intentionally left Galilee to have a moment of peace in private. However, even in this gentile territory, a Syrophoenician woman discovered where he was staying. She heard about Jesus, came to him, and begged him to free daughter from the torment of demon possession.

This encounter disrupted Jesus' plans for rest. He expected to remain unnoticed in this quiet place, but the woman's persistence interrupted his retreat. Although initially upset by the disturbance, this moment ended up changing Jesus' outlook entirely. The woman’s deep love for her daughter taught him something profound.

Come and join us as we explore the powerful lesson, we can learn from the Syrophoenician woman!
