If You Give a Disciple a Pep Talk...
Taking a cue from the prophet Isaiah, the focus for this third week in Advent is JOY!
Of course, we can’t have Advent without a story about Jesus. Once again, the gospel of Matthew helps us with that.
What brings you joy?
—Being in a place with beautiful landscape with majestic trees or powerful waterfall or crashing waves?
—Feeling right in the very depths of your being? Your body, your mind, and your soul all in harmony?
—Singing?
—Knowing you are on the right path for your current destination and in your life?
—Asking tough questions and getting a meaningful response?
—Reading a good book?
—Having someone validate your work?
—Receiving the help that you need?
—Offering the help that someone else needs?
—Seeing younger generations carry on a legacy you helped create?
—Resisting despair by living full of hope?
—Dancing?
What brings you joy?
All of those paths to joy are present in our texts — and in ourselves! Pastor Dave will attempt to weave all of that together this Sunday, December 11th, in a sermon he calls, “If You Give a Disciple a Pep Talk…”
Worship with us Sunday at 10:00am in person or online via our Woodridge UMC YouTube Channel. All are welcome!
