Learning Through Negative Examples
This Sunday’s sermon focuses on the challenging yet transformative process of self-reflection and learning. Drawing inspiration from Khalil Gibran’s observation, “I learned silence from the talkative, tolerance from the intolerant, and kindness from the unkind,” we’ll explore how even negative experiences can offer valuable lessons. The hardest lessons often come from within, as the greatest challenge lies in teaching and changing ourselves.
The Bible is filled with accounts of human mistakes, not to discourage us but to guide us. These stories reveal our tendency to forget God’s promises and fall into old patterns. In this season of Advent, as we prepare the way of the Lord, we are called to self-reflection and repentance, to recognize where we’ve strayed and how we can realign our lives with God’s truth.
