Our Methodist Heritage: Splits and Tears
Sunday, May 22nd is designated as Methodist Heritage Sunday. It is always observed on the Sunday closest to May 24th, the day that one of our founders, John Wesley, felt his heart strangely warmed. If ever there was a "Methodist holiday", May 24th would be it! It is a time to talk about who we are as Methodists and to celebrate our heritage in the faith.
In the midst of all of the controversy about "dividing and separating" we have somehow forgotten our foundation. We have become even more self-centered and individualistic than ever before and the question arises...."why continue?". There are so many options to choose from, the question continues to stir within us. Can we afford to separate and that is not just a dollars and sense question? All of these questions and so many more are lurking at our doorstep. We will begin to address some of them following worship service as we spend the day looking at "OUR METHODIST HERITAGE: SPLITS AND TEARS". You are welcome to join our conversation at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday and continuing after the worship service has ended. Join us in person or on YouTube.
