Peace and Hospitality Go Together
When someone leaves our presence or we are ending a conversation, our usual salutation is "good-bye". We leave thinking that we will pick up our conversations at a future time and never think that it could be our last one. All kinds of circumstances could prevent future interactions including the most difficult one of all.....death. Our society has made us believe that death is the worst consequence in life and so we have treated it that way. We don't talk about it, we fear it and it makes us very sad.
Yet in the conversation that Jesus has with His disciples (and ultimately with us!) He lets us know that there is a Companion that will be with us after He has left the scene!! His words....."don't be troubled or afraid..." should ring in our hearts but often don't. How do we learn to hear them afresh and with welcome hearts? Maybe in our practice of hospitality, we will find new and/or different ways to leave each other's presence. And when we do, we will discover that "PEACE AND HOSPITALITY GO TOGETHER"!!!
Join us on Sunday morning at 10:00 a.m. to look at various ways to work for peace and practice hospitality at the same time. We would love to see you in person but we are also available on YouTube. See you on Sunday!
