She Who Laughs Last
“Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by doing that some have entertained angels without knowing it.”
That famous(ish?) verse from the enigmatic New Testament epistle we name “Hebrews,” very likely references the at-least-slightly-more-famous story from Genesis about the child-rearing prospects of an elderly couple. Two nonagenarians will have a baby?? That’s got to be a joke, right?!
At the very least, that ridiculous idea sure made Sarah laugh. Turns out, Abraham thought it was pretty funny too.
As much fun as origin stories can be, what’s this have to do with us today?
How might hearing this seemingly absurd story again help us understand — and faithfully live in — our too-often absurd 2019?
Perhaps this story of our ancient spiritual ancestors can still help us today as we live with our own worries and pain and doubts?
That’s what Pastor Dave aims to find out as he wrestles with these questions and more this Sunday, September 15th, in his sermon, “She Who Laughs Last…”
All are welcome!
