Mary, Martha and Lazarus

04.04.25 | by Rev Dave Yim

Jesus didn’t have a permanent place to lie down on earth. But he did spend several days in the home of dear friends—Mary, Martha, and Lazarus. I believe Jesus still remembers their great hospitality. Martha was an excellent cook, preparing meals for Jesus and his disciples during their stay. Lazarus likely helped set the table, made beds, and ensured everyone had what they needed. He often sat with Jesus at the table, listening intently and being fully present. Mary anointed Jesus’ feet with costly perfume and wiped them with her hair—a beautiful act of devotion. She also listened closely to Jesus’ teachings and took them to heart.
What can we learn from Mary, Martha, and Lazarus? Join us for worship this Sunday as we reflect on their example and what it means to welcome Jesus into our lives with love, service, and attentive hearts.
